Abstract:
Professional advice plays a crucial role in (future) teachers’ development. During an international lecture series, a group of researchers and practitioners gave talks on various topics related to the field of teaching English to young leaners (TEYL). Their presentations were followed by interviews that aimed at identifying practical implications for teaching. Following a qualitative approach, responses were transcribed and summarized in categories. The suggestions include providing wellchosen input, structuring lessons clearly, reflecting on teaching methods critically, applying TPR, using child-oriented media and employing picturebooks. On that basis, we derive suggestions for future TEYL exchanges.
