This voluminous oeuvre (in two parts) does document the wealth and richness of rural clothing in the "Vogtei Dorla vor dem Hainich" from ancient (1820 - 1850) and more recent days (1870 - 1900). Everything is portrayed in historical and contemporary pictures and traces back historical descriptions of the clothing in newly found sources. The written historical sources and pictures (such as tombstones, graphics, historic photographs) and oral and written demoscopic enquiries enabled me to paint a differentiated colourful picture of the regional clothing of the "Vogtei Dorla vor dem Hainich". At the same time this oeuvre confirms and gives witness to the survival of the living tradition which surpassed the narrow limits of GDR. A further emphasis is put on the folklore clothings function during the days of GDR. In addition to that I have researched how much GDR cultural policy affected daily rural life.
