Bereits die Geschichte des UNESCO-Welterbes zeigt wie eng der Schutz des natürlichen und kulturellen Erbes verwoben ist. Im Klimadiskurs der Gegenwart nehmen internationale Organisationen und Fachverbände wie UNESCO oder ICOMOS eine aktivistische Rolle ein wenn es darum geht Modelle für eine dekarbonisierte Welt zu entwerfen. Aber wie kann das (bau-)kulturelle Erbe zu einer klimapositiven Lebensweise beitragen? Voraussetzung dafür ist zunächst ein verändertes Framing: Der Wandel des Erbeverständnisses vom Schutzgut zur materiellen Ressource ermöglicht eine Inwertsetzung im globalen Transformationsprozess. Zu beobachten ist eine neue Dimension von Heritage Politics deren Entwicklung der Beitrag im Kontext des Care-Paradigmas in den architekturbezogenen Disziplinen nachzeichnet.

Tue history of UNESCO World Heritage already shows how closely the protection of natural and cultural heritage are interwoven. In today's climate discourse international organisations and professional associations such as UNESCO and ICOMOS play an activist role when it comes to designing models for a decarbonised world. But how can (built) cultural heritage contribute to a climate-positive way of life? The first prerequisite for this is a change in framing: the shift in the understanding of heritage from a protected good to a material resource enables it to be valorised in the global transformation process. A new dimension of heritage politics can be observed, the development of which the article traces in the context of the care paradigm in the architecture-related disciplines.
