Abstract
The usage of "per" + preposition with an emphatic purpose is known to occur occasionally in Medieval Latin from Hispanic sources. The article shows in the basis of two as yet ignored references from Italo-Romance an Gallo-Romance that this usage of "per" must also have been common, at least originally, outside the Iberian peninsula.
