The university and college libraries in the Bavarian Library Network have decided to switch to the open source library system FOLIO (The Future of Library Is Open), as the previous library management system SISIS-SunRise no longer meets current requirements and is no longer being further developed by the manufacturer. Bamberg University Library plans to introduce a new catalog portal based on the open source software VuFind in September 2025 and switch to Folio in December 2025.
