We test the hypothesis that referential null subjects in Persian are more likely to be omitted if the interlocutors are personally familiar with each other. We use a purpose-built spoken language corpus of vernacular Persian, which is freely available online. Our results indicate that there is no significant effect of speaker familiarity on the frequency of subject drop in Persian.
