Abstract:
This essay provides a list of the 4th-century imperial constitutions that are appended, in full or abridged form, to the Ecclesiastical Histories of Eusebius of Caesarea, Theodoret of Cyrrhus, Socrates Scholasticus, and Sozomen. The enactments are arranged according to their (likely) date of issue. Each entry in the list contains: the reference to the historian who cites it, with an indication of possible loci paralleli in other sources; the name(s) of the emperor(s) who enacted the law and the place where it was promulgated or publicly displayed; the typology and content of the enactment; basic remarks on the textual tradition and publication process; references to other related imperial laws (if any), including cross-references between entries in the list; essential information on the authenticity of the text (in the case of suspected forgeries).
