The targets for the reduction of greenhouse gases in the transport sector are ambitious at both German and European level. However, the potential of important measures suitable for this purpose is in danger of being lost due to a lack of technological neutrality. Political regulatory framework conditions strongly favour the ramp-up of electric mobility. The German Climate Protection Programme 2030 focuses on electric mobility through excessive financial support and is accompanied by other legal measures such as the non-inclusion of the standard DIN EN 15940 in the new BImSchV, which means that paraffinic renewable fuels are strongly discouraged. At European level, this includes especially the fleet regulation system for CO2 emissions, in which battery electric vehicles are counted with zero emission, but renewable fuels do not count at all.
