We use NEPS-SC6-ADIAB data for descriptive and decomposition analyses. The results show that the group of upgraders shows a steeper wage growth compared to non-upgraders. However, although upgrading patterns are somewhat socially selective, differences in upgrading do neither compensate nor reinforce wage gaps between individuals of different social classes of origin over the career trajectory.
