Der Preis des Erfolges : die „Krise der Geisteswissenschaften“ in feldtheoretischer Perspektive

Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen wird ein Bogen von der Begründung der Geisteswissenschaften zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts bis in die Gegenwart gespannt. In diesem Zeitraum lässt sich unter Verwendung des kapital- und feldtheoretischen Ansatzes von Pierre Bourdieu beobachten, wie das sozial und kognitiv geschlossene Feld der Geisteswissenschaften durch interne und externe Einflüsse zunächst zu einer sozialen Öffnung gezwungen wird. Der dadurch entstehenden Spannung zwischen sozialer Entgrenzung und kognitiver Schließung wird bald durch eine kognitive Öffnung im Sinne neuer Inhalte und Praktiken nachgegeben. Damit ist der Preis der erfolgreichen Anpassung der Geisteswissenschaften an Praxisanforderungen und Verwertungszwänge beziffert: die Aufgabe des Kerns ihrer traditionellen Identität.What does the ´crisis of the humanities´ in Germany consist of, and to which causes can it be traced back? To answer these questions, the development of the humanities from the beginning of the 19th century to the present is traced. Using the Bourdieusian capital and field perspective, one can observe how the socially and cognitively closed field of the humanities is forced to a social opening. The resulting tension between social openness and cognitive closure of the field is soon released by its accordant cognitive opening in terms of new scientific subject-matters and practices.
