Certain Pre-Greek place names which are definitely of Indoeuropean origin show that before the Greeks (Mycenean Greeks) came to Greece, there was already an ie. tribe there. For this presentation, "Atana" (= Athens) and "Mukana" (Mykene) are used as examples. Also, the semantics of the root "lar" is derived from all the words and names it is used in. "Lar" means 'depression' (German: 'Niederung, Senke').engEtymologyHistorical Comparative LinguisticsGreecePrehistoryToponymyOnomastics480Pre-Greek Place Names : New Insights into an Old ProblemVorgriechische Ortsnamen : Neue Erkenntnisse zu einem alten Problemconferenceobjecturn:nbn:de:bvb:473-irb-111203x
