Description
Government responses to Covid-19 have included some of the most powerful peace-time interventions in economic, social and political life. In a comparison of four parliaments (Deutscher Bundestag, French National Assembly, Irish Dail, Israel's Knesset), an international team of researchers will examine how the chambers’ law-making function and role as central arenas for public debate were affected during and after the crisis. This longer-term perspective beyond the crisis will allow to draw lessons about the resilience of parliamentary institutions and practices in liberal democracies in the face of policy challenges characterized by extremely high risks.
